“Really engaging tutor who clearly knew his stuff”
Sadia Mirza, HOD, Dr Challoners High School
Low Level Disruption. Can you kick it? Yes, you can
- Why manage behaviour?
- Why do students misbehave?
- How do you manage behaviour positively?
- What strategies and routines really work in the classroom?
Low level disruption appears, in isolation, like nothing at all. It’s hardly worth even mentioning to your colleagues, especially in high performing schools where behaviour is not “supposed” to be an issue. But when you combine the cumulative effects of all those tiny, persistent little goblins chattering away around you, it adds up to an ocean of misery, a long night of the soul that stretches out forever. Low level disruption is like kryptonite for the well planned lesson.
Low-level disruption in classrooms: below the radar
The findings from this Ofsted survey report show that teachers, parents and carers are rightly concerned about the frequent loss of learning time through low-level but persistent disruptive behaviour. This report demonstrates that, in too many schools, teachers are frustrated by this sort of behaviour and are critical of colleagues, particularly those in leadership positions, who are not doing enough to ensure high standards of pupil behaviour.
This course is targeted at any teacher who wishes to sharpen their behaviour management skills and adopt effective strategies to tackle low level disruption and improve the quality of teaching, learning and progress in their classrooms.
